Our Founder and a Leading Guide Paulo Joshua is the Best Mountain Guide of the year 2020-2021 with over 10 years of experience in  Mountaineering passionately leading hundreds of Expeditions successfully. Paulo made over 200 Kilimanjaro’s summit attempts. He brings to the company dedication and a belief that tourism should benefit all involved in the sector, from clients to employees to the people who live in the mountains, cities, or rivers that attract travelers from all over the world.

His ancestor followed the Nilotic Maasai tribe and came to be known as the Ilarusa, people with two interesting qualities. With his extraordinary energy and a sense of purpose, no doubt he carries an expedition passion from his childhood. Paulo’s youthfulness, enthusiasm for life, and vibrant energy are contagious and heartwarming.

While in secondary school, Paulo began climbing Mount Kilimanjaro secretly as a porter at the age of 17 years old, which spurred his curiosity of the unknown and a robust guiding personality. Paulo flourished in the surroundings, and it was the beginning of his love for guiding which was to become his life’s passion.

Fortunately, years of climbing as a porter exposed him to a wide range of experience and knowledge about the mountain and its environment; he began to pursue his dream to become a professional guide and commenced his studies for guiding in the year 2011. He attended a course in Wildlife knowledge, social anthropology, and professional guiding skills at the Nairobi Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management for a year.
